I wanted to add Bluetooth capability to my car.

I looked at getting a new headunit but couldn't find anything I liked the look of so I decided to add a Bluetooth adapter to the existing headunit.

This what I bought off of Ebay for a couple of quid.

I originally bought the Bluetooth adapter for my home Hi-Fi unit and it worked so well I bought another for the car.

It runs off USB power so is just perfect for the car or home.

The piggy back leads were very important as then I could still use my MP3 autochanger.

Now where to install it?

Well if you look just below the drivers console you will see the perfect slot for it.

So I cut some holes into the slot to feed the cable through.

 The wiring up was simple.

I ran a wire from the switchable live that went to my boost gauge to the USB interface.

The coaxil lead plugged into my headunit with the autochanger piggy backing on to them.

The Earth of the USB interface was attached to an earthing screw in the below fuse box.

Although the USB interface seemed to work fine without an Earth connection.

Don't ask me how?

When pushed in it looked like this.

When powered on it mutes the MP3 autochanger and takes over the headunit.

The music is now selectable through my mobile phone.

To change tracks I can either use my phone or press the + button on the Bluetooth adapter.

And that's how to get an old Headunit up to date.
